# Sending players to a Football Manager shortlist

> Documentation release: **FMRTE 26** (published release).

> **TIP**
Need to find players first?
Check out [Find Young Players](https://docs.fmrte.com/26/examples/young-player-shortlist.md) for an example.

## Create a player shortlist from search results

1. Run a [search](https://docs.fmrte.com/26/scouting/search.md) and select the players you want.
2. Right-click and choose **Shortlists → Add to new shortlist**.
3. Name the file, such as `U19-targets.fmf`, and save it somewhere easy to find.
4. Check that the file exists.
5. Import the saved shortlist into Football Manager from its shortlist screen.
6. Check that the selected players appear.

The usual folder is:

```text
Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2026/shortlists
```

Use your custom game-data location if you have one.

## Add to an existing shortlist file

Select more people of the same type, right-click **Shortlists → Add to Shortlist File**, and choose the `.fmf`. Reload it in Football Manager.

Recent files may appear directly under **Shortlists → Add to**.

## Open or clean up a shortlist in FMRTE

| Menu item | Use it to… |
| --- | --- |
| **New Shortlist** | Create an empty player or staff list |
| **Load Shortlist** | Open a saved `.fmf` |
| **Ingame** | Open lists in the loaded savegame |
| **Recently used shortlists** | Return to a recent file |

In a file-based list, use **Remove From Shortlist** for selected entries or **Save Shortlist as** for another file. **Clear this list** clears the recent-file menu, not the files themselves.
